HAPPY 75TH BIRTHDAY TO THE WIZARD OF OZ!!!!!
Did you know that long before the movie, The Wizard of Oz, there was a book written by L. Frank Baum? This year, the book turns 75 years old. Happy Birthday!!! If you haven't read the original version of this story, I highly recommend that you catch up
on this great classic. There are so many wonderful characters in this story. If you have read it, which one is your favorite? The cowardly lion is my mine. He reminds me of myself. Sometimes I don't realize the courage that I have hidden inside of me. Don't be "afraid" to share your your favorite character here.

Welcome to the PS 87 Media Center Blog and the 2014-2015 School Year!!!!! This Media Center Blog is a place where students, parents, teachers and administrators, who love reading and talking about books, can visit. Here they can discuss their favorite books, new arrivals, award winning books and all of the new movies coming to the big screen based on classic children's stories. You are all invited to comment on a post to share your thoughts, ask questions, or discuss a children's book or movie. If you are shy, you can just read what others are talking about. SIX FLAGS'- HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back in November, the fourth and fifth grade students were told about a special program that would require them to read and log in 600 minutes of recreational reading . They were told that they would receive a prize, however, they were never told what the prize would be. The deadline to submit the logs was on February 14th. I am proud to say that 51 students handed in the logs. On February 28th, they were told that the prize they earned was a free ticket to SIX FLAGS' GREAT ADVENTURE!!!!! Congratulations to all of the students who worked hard and met the deadline. The tickets will arrive in May, when the park opens. I hope that you are able to go with your families and that you all have a great time. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!
